Chapter 5: The Power of Wonder

This article discusses the unrealistic part of fairy tales, which are created with the purpose of provoking wonder. Wonder is defined as “the emotion excited by the perception of something novel and unexpected, or inexplicable; astonishment mingled with perplexity or bewildered curiosity”, according to the Oxford Universal Dictionary. The purpose behind this is to evoke the good side of life, and the pleasant pleasures of life. They keep alive our hope of transforming our lives in positive ways, so we can improve such as the characters in the fairy tales.
